Canyon Marine River Guide School
A twelve-day intensive whitewater workshop starting May 18, 2009. The school's aim is the development of commercial river guiding skills. We provide instruction in both oar and paddlecanyon marine whitewater rafts. The course covers river dynamics and reading water, river safety and self-rescue, steering and strokes, ropes and knots, and expedition behavior. The course is a demanding but exhilarating experience, suitable for those who wish to work as a guide in the rafting business or for those who simply want to hone their personal skills. The 2009 course will start on May 18th.

Canyon Marine does offer one-on-one oarboat instruction for those seeking some intensive help on improving their rowing abilities. The Arkansas River has an incredible number and diversity of rapids to learn from and these one-on-one trips can be a tremendous learning experience for the private boater who wants to brush up on their skills. These trips are booked on an as-needed basis throughout the year and the cost is $225/day (up to three students per boat).
